智利导演米盖尔·里廷曾经创作过多部佳作，他执导的墨西哥电影《玛卢西娅的来信》(Letters from Marusia)以及为尼加拉瓜拍摄的影片《阿尔西诺和飞鹰》(Alsino and the cóndor)分别于1976年和1983年两次获得奥斯卡最佳外语片提名，《El recurso del método》和《玛卢西娅的来信》还双双入围了1978和1976年的戛纳电影节主竞赛单元。
